Crocheted eggs
I thought it would be a fun idea to crochet eggs as an Easter decoration. I give the description of both crocheted eggs in the photo.
As you can see in the picture, I have a nice collection of plastic eggs of 5 cm high, which I will use for that.
The first pattern is of the three-color spiral crochet pattern.
Needed: crochet hook 3 and matching cotton crochet thread in 3 different colors. In the pattern they are referred to as color A, color B and color C.
Work 4 chains with color A and join with slipstitch to form a ring.
1st row: 1 chain stitch, 1 half double crochet, 2 double crochets in the ring. Pull the last loop up into a large loop and let it hang. Continue with color B: 1 chain stitch, 1 half double crochet, 2 double crochets in the ring. Pull the last loop up into a large loop and let it hang. You do the same with color C.
The next row starts with color B. In each double crochet 1 or 2 double crochets, that depends on the size of your egg. Try your crochet around your egg regularly. Start with the tip of your egg, otherwise you won’t get it in your crochet at the end.
With color B you crochet on each stitch of color C up to the large loose loop of color C. Pull the last loop of color B up into a large loop and let it hang. You insert the crochet hook into the large loop of color C, tighten it and continue working over the stitches of color A to the large hanging loop of color A. Pull the last loop of color C up into a large loop and let it hang. Work with color A over the stitches of color B to the next large loop. The 2nd round is ready.
Now continue crocheting alternately with the colors in the same way. Check regularly whether your crochet work fits smoothly around your egg. Increase where necessary by working 2 double crochets in the same double crochet from previous row.
Hook through to the widest part of the egg.
Put the egg in your crochet. Then work 1 half double crochet, 1 single crochet with each color. Cut the strand of 2 colors and pull the strand through the last loop. Tuck the end in.
Continue in single crochet with the 3rd color, crocheting 2 single crochets together until 1 single crochet remains. If you want you can now crochet a hanging loop. Fasten off the thread.
The 2nd pattern is from the crocheted egg with embroidered stripes.
You work this in the same way as the pattern of the tricolor crochet egg, but with 1 color. The most convenient is to use 3 balls of the same color.
You now continue working in the same way as described in the 3-color pattern.
Note: you are now inserting into the back loops. When your crochet work is done, embroider a decorative border in the front loops with different colors of thread.
Check regularly if your crochet fits well around your egg. If you want you can crochet a hanging loop at the end.
When your crochet work is done you can decorate it with an embroidered decorative stitch. In the next photo, I show the embroidery stitch that I used to embroider the crochet.
Have fun crocheting.
