Slow Stitching

Slow Stitching

All these beautiful appliqués are destined to be used in free embroidery (slow stitching).

Most of us have learned to embroider with patterns. For those who do want to experiment with patches and embroidery stitches, there is a way of embroidering called Slow Stitching. This is a free way of stitching, with no rules, no patterns. You decide how to make your piece. Anyone can do it, because you don’t have to know any difficult stitches. The most important thing is to enjoy the stitching itself, stitch by stitch, very relaxed. Making mistakes is impossible. You paint as it were with cloth and thread and decorate it with applications, buttons, beads, sequins, shells or whatever you have in your home. In the next photo I show a design like you could make. It is laid out provisionally to give you an idea of what I mean.

Slow Stitching

I have recently discovered Slow Stitching and I am absolutely thrilled. Just search the internet for images of Slow Stitching, maybe you will like it as much as lots of women all over the world.

Have fun embroidering, Catherine.
